The trail begins along a short nature trail near the main picnic shelter.  Follow the nature trail crossing the creek several times.  After 0.25 miles the falls trail veers to the right while the nature trail begins to loop back toward the picnic area.  At 0.5 miles the trail veers to the left crossing Yellow Branch.  It ascends a small rise leaving the Yellow Branch drainage area.  The trail descends over the next mile through open hardwood forests till it terminates at the boulder field at the bottom of the falls.
