An arduous journey up the Blue Ridge front in upstate South Carolina followed by the return loop along the base of the same mountains.  Very scenic... limited services... very strenuous.... very challenging.  Parts of this ride are also referred to locally as Isaqueena's Last Ride.

The ride is recommended in the clockwise direction climbing the mountains early in the day when you are energetic and traffic is lighter.  Also we have found that climbing up SC 28 is easier out of Walhalla than climbing SC 130 since the traffic is slower due to switchbacks.  A lot of this ride is along two lane state roads which can be busy and have no shoulders so caution is advised.  However, parts are lightly traveled, particularly between Oconee State Park and SC 130 near Whitewater Falls.

Definitely not a family ride.
